This widget allows you to add a countdown to your campaign. Running a contest, sweepstakes, or promotion that has a limited time frame? Want to ensure fans know when your campaign ends? The Countdown widget is a valuable asset to your campaign.
When running contests, sweepstakes, or promotions, urgency is a key factor in the success of your campaign. You can easily create this urgency with a running countdown – it ensures that fans know that this contest isn’t going to be around forever.
Just follow these simple steps to set up your contest countdown.
Make sure that you:
Step 1: Drag and drop the Countdown widget anywhere in your campaign canvas; this will create a size-adjustable widget box on your campaign. This will also open an options bar on the right-hand side of the screen.
Note: You can resize the box by clicking and dragging the bottom right-hand corner, or delete the widget by clicking the ‘X.’ Click and drag the widget to position it on the page.
Step 2: Once you have placed the countdown on your campaign, the widget options will open up on the right hand side of the screen. Under “Date & Time,” select the date and time you want your contest to end. We here at Heyo recommend that your run contests in 1 to 2 week increments.
Note: If you don’t see the widget options, you can get to them by clicking the widget again.
Step 3: Under the “Date & Time” section, there are two sections titled “Number” and “Color.” If you would like to change the color of your text or the bumbers, you can click on “Color” or “Background” to bring up the color picker (outlined in The Heyo Color Picker article).
Note: Unless you have made your countdown widget larger or smaller than the default, I would not recommend changing the text size. In the default setting, a text size smaller than 20 is too difficult to read, and a text size larger than 21 causes the words and numbers to overlap.
Step 4: Click “Save Changes” in the lower left-hand corner of the settings toolbar.
