What happens when you publish your Heyo campaign? Where does it go? How do people see it? The Publish button can be daunting at first but you don’t have to worry; many of your questions will be answered here!
First things first – the Publish button isn’t as scary as it seems. Publishing your campaign does not blast it out to all your Fans and social media channels – rather, it quietly creates a tab on your Facebook page along with a web and mobile version hosted on our servers, and assigns your campaign a “Smart URL.”
How you blast the campaign to your audience is entirely up to you after you publish. So, let’s break down the publishing process.
The publish button is on the “Preview” page in Heyo. This is where you will be able to see how your campaign will look before going live. It’s also where you can name your campaign, select the Fan Page you want to publish to, upload an app thumbnail, and decide which versions (Facebook, Web, and Mobile) you want to create.
Quick tip: If you want to test your campaign “live” without having it create a tab on your Facebook Page, simply uncheck the “Publish to Facebook” option, but leave the “Publish to Mobile and Web” options checked. This will create a live version on our servers and give you the Smart URL.
When your campaign is ready to go, it’s time to hit publish.
When you hit publish, your campaign will be assigned a “Smart URL” and you’ll receive the pop-up pictured below. This means your campaign successfully published and is now live.
Remember that the Smart URL is critical to the promotion of your campaign. You don’t have to worry about memorizing the Smart URL because it will always be listed just underneath your campaign on your Heyo dashboard.
Now that you’ve published your campaign, you’re probably wondering where it is. When you publish your campaign to Facebook, Heyo creates a tab in the “Apps” section of your Facebook Page and places the campaign there.
The “Apps” sections exists in two places on your Facebook Page: to the left of your timeline and just beneath your cover photo in your “More” navigation bar.
Important note: The Facebook mobile app does not have an “Apps” section or “More” tab. This is because Facebook mobile does not support apps/tabs; it’s only available from desktop/laptop.
Don’t worry about tabs on mobile, we’ve got you covered with the Smart URL in the “promoting your campaign” section below.
Quick tip: You can move your “Apps” section up or down on the left side by clicking on the little pencil to the top-right of the “Apps” section and selecting “manage sections” from the drop-down.
Quick tip part deux: You can also raise or lower your app’s position under the “more” tab by selecting “manage tabs” at the bottom of the drop-down. This will also affect where your tab appears in the Apps section to the left of the timeline.
If you drag it all the way to the top, it will appear to the left of the “more” tab, just beneath your cover-photo. The more visibility you can give your campaign, the better!
You’re probably thinking that most people won’t bother coming to visit the “Apps” section on your Facebook Page and you’d be right. You’re also probably wondering how people are going to see it from mobile, since Facebook’s mobile app doesn’t even have an “Apps” section or “More” tab. No worries, this is where the all-powerful smart URL comes in to play.
To make your campaign visible to Fans, you need to take the Smart URL and paste it as a status update on your timeline; doing so creates a Link Share post that your Fans will see in their news feeds from both desktop and mobile.
When your Fan clicks on that post, the Smart URL will check to see whether they are coming from desktop or mobile and direct them to the appropriate version.
Quick tip: pin your post to the top of your timeline for maximum visibility. To pin your post to the top of your timeline, click on the “down arrow” to the top right of your post and select “pin to top.” So, now you’ll have sure spot for people visiting your page to see your campaign from both mobile and desktop.
