You’ve probably noticed the Drag-and-Drop Templates in the Heyo editor; just what are those Templates for? The Drag-and-Drop Templates are where you have the freedom to create your own campaigns and landing pages using Heyo’s library of widgets.
But when would you use a Drag-and-Drop Template?
In this article, I’ll walk you through a use case for the Drag-and-Drop Templates, as well as provide a couple of examples of live Drag-and-Drop Templates some of our users have created!
The Drag-and-Drop Templates include a Blank Template, Featured Banner Template, Featured Video Template, Image Gallery Template, Sidebar Template, and a Drag-and-Drop Sweepstakes Template. The basic difference between these templates and the Blank Canvas is that the other templates are just that – Templates. They have a basic campaign set up so that you don’t have to start from scratch. The difference between these and our Premade Templates is that you can customize every aspect of a Drag-and-Drop Template.
We’ve found that the best reason to use a Drag-and-Drop Template is if you need a little bit more flexibility in the design of your contest or landing page. Take the Goorin Brothers campaign, for instance:
They used the Drag-and-Drop template to feature a large, high-quality image as their background. Because they had complete control over widget placement and widget colors and background colors, they were able to create a sweepstakes that reflected their brand’s style.
Goorin also took advantage of the Form Widget, which allowed them to create an entry form that asked for more than just an email address. This worked well for their contest – naming a hat after the winner would require their name, and sending out hats to the runners up is made easier if you can figure out shipping costs – but be wary. The more steps you add to the entry process, the less likely it is that fans will take the time to enter.
That said, the Goorin Brothers’ contest did extremely well because they followed the same formula as our prebuilt templates:
